Since 2016 Ramsey kyles has been in the entertainment industry on the determined path to making his mark in editing.
After returning from South Korea, having taught english for four years, Ramsey began his journey with the help of academy award nominee Adam pertofsky and other talented mentors at rock paper scissors in Santa Monica. as most do, he started as a production assistant learning the ins and outs of client service,
he would advance to the role of Vault manager, then operations coordinator, managing a website and over 2000+ assets both physical and digital. This unique position, Working alongside the Assistant Editors, vfx artists, producers and the I.T, department, allowed for him to see the roles everyone played in bringing a production to life. It would be another three years assisting the operations department in office expansion and hardware upgrades before returning to his original plan to pursue editorial.
then the pandemic hit.
With productions slowing down and all staff working from home, ramsey held his own learning editing programs remotely, taking additional classes for instruction amidst the unsure future of the industry. From virtual instruction he served as an assistant editor for 3 years with an impressive range of experience across various platforms including commercials, music videos, and digital shorts.
then the 2023 writers strike hit.
Cuts in budgets resulted in inevitable layoffs and ramsey ventured with his editing knowledge into freelance work. with the help of producer Josia Elliot and schwartzkopf professional, he received his first solo Youtube video editing credit.  However, scarce opportunities for new editors led him back to asset management at a prestigious trailer production house, big picture entertainment. with a clear path ahead, plans to advance to assistant editor after serving as an asset manager fell short once the aftermath of the strikes led once again to layoffs, leaving ramsey to find a place to utilize his knowledge.
Then tragically his uncle devin kyles passed away.
to honor his uncle's memory ramsey put all he had learned into editing a memorial video to be viewed at the service held at monumental Baptist church. This however took a toll on his passion for editing as the emotion and importance of the project proved more personal than anticipated. Returning to asset management with expertise in media formats and file transfer protocols (FTP), the desire for editing would return upon remembering the words of trailer producer joseph emde, that would resonate and summarize the industry as a whole:
"QTIP (Quit taking it personally)"
now restarting the journey as Vault manager at editorial production company The Den, ramsey is once again pursuing his goal in editorial. After numerous certification courses and an established portfolio, he is proud to present his proven track record of success on his newly self built website. Whether working on a high pressure commercial or personal project, Ramsey brings his unique industry experience and technical expertise to every project he undertakes.
